Strawberry thrips are insects that attack plants in the order Hemiptera. The order is split into 3 suborders, the Sternorrhyncha (suborder Pulicaria) Coleorrhyncha and Cyclorrhyncha. There are approximately 1500 species of insect in this order, with strawberry pest thrips being found mainly in the suborder Coleorrhyncha. These minute pests can attack a very large range of different crops and food items including natural berries, vegetables and even fruit crops such as strawberries. Keeping your strawberry plants free from pests is critical to maintaining a healthy plant and producing quality fruit.
