Dogman Lord of the Fleas by Dav Pikey is a novel about a man who is cursed with a dog’s body and takes it upon himself to hunt down the witch who cursed him. The book follows the man, who has now changed his name to “Dogman,” as he attempts to find the witch who cursed him. The story is told from Dogman’s perspective, which adds an interesting twist because we are able to see what he sees and hear what he hears.
Pikey does an excellent job of describing Dogman’s world and making us feel like we’re right there with him in this fantastical realm that he inhabits. His descriptions of characters and places are vivid enough that you can picture them perfectly in your mind.
The author also does a great job of conveying emotion through dialogue—which makes sense since this story is told from Dogman’s perspective. There were times when I could feel my heart skip a beat during certain scenes because they were so intense!
