The wasp family, Vespidae, is a large family currently including some 3000 described species. The distinction between the types of wasps is based primarily on morphology, though in many cases there are other characteristics such as color or behavior that help differentiate the type. While there are different characteristics within each type of wasp, they all generally share the same general appearance. They have two sets of wings, but no functional mouth parts so they do not eat solid foods. The queen spends most of her life cycle essentially taking care of her young and the rest of her time laying eggs. The males are very much smaller than the queen, who at times can be up to twice their size. Wasps are seen as pests because of their aggressive behaviour, stinging habits and ecological disruption. They do not offer any direct economic benefit or harm through crop or livestock predation. In fact, wasp control is not necessary as they rarely invade buildings and can be kept under control with minimal intervention. There is only one species of social wasp that builds nests inside buildings, these include yellowjackets and hornets.
Pics Of A Wasp
The wasp is a unique insect that has evolved over millions of years to be the dominant species on earth. There are many different kinds of wasps, and each one has developed a special skill set that allows it to survive in its environment.
The most common type of wasps are social insects, meaning they live in colonies. They work together to find food and care for their young. A typical colony may include thousands of workers who are all related to each other.
The queen is the only female in the colony that can lay eggs. She usually spends most of her time sitting on her eggs or caring for her young. The rest of the colony’s members are divided into three castes: workers, soldiers and males (drones).
The workers are responsible for building nests, finding food for themselves and their sisters, caring for young ones and defending the nest from predators. They also help protect other insects from being eaten by spiders or birds by paralyzing them with their stingers first before bringing them back home for dinner!
Soldiers are larger than workers because they need more muscles so they can fight off predators like ants or spiders when necessary! Drones don’t do much besides fly around looking for mates during mating season.
A wasp is a flying insect that has a narrow waist. A wasp has two pairs of wings, but only the front pair is used for flight. The rear pair is reduced in size, and modified to form a tube-like structure called an ovipositor that enables the female wasp to lay eggs inside other insects or other small prey items. Most wasps are social and live in colonies, although some species are solitary.
Wasp stings can be painful and cause swelling and irritation; however, most people are not allergic to wasps and survive a sting without any long-term effects. In certain people, however, wasps can cause severe allergic reactions that may result in death if medical help is not sought immediately.
