Picture Of A Bed Bug Egg

A common misconception about bed bug infestations is that the bugs themselves are very easy to spot. As such, a lot of people fail to notice the signs of a growing bed bug problem until it’s already reached an advanced stage and they’ve had a bad infestation problem for anything up to 6 months. While after this point general signs of their activity might be spotted, there are usually some tell-tale signs of their presence before they even begin to lay eggs which can include all kinds of odd stains and spots on your mattress, pillows and sheets. Bed bug identification can be difficult for even a seasoned pest management professional. That’s why it’s important to correctly identify what you’re dealing with and not make the mistake of treating a bed bug infestation with insecticide when the problem is something else entirely. Now, I’m not trying to gross you out but I do want to drive home the point that finding an egg might requires some of your guests to change their clothes! Let’s take a closer look at how to identify parasitic eggs, how they are laid and my preferred treatment options to get rid of them.

The bed bug egg is unique. It’s hard to see, and it’s even harder to find.

It’s small, but it holds a lot of promise—of pestilence, disease, and death. The bed bug egg can survive for up to 18 months without food or water (and it doesn’t need oxygen). The bed bug egg can survive in temperatures ranging from -13 degrees Fahrenheit to 113 degrees Fahrenheit. And if you’ve ever tried to kill a bed bug egg, you know that they’re nearly impossible to get rid of—even if you try your hardest with a vacuum cleaner and then throw the vacuum cleaner away.

The only thing more annoying than finding a single bed bug egg on your mattress is finding a bunch of them. But don’t worry! We’ve got solutions for you!

A bed bug egg is a very unique looking thing. It’s oval shaped, with a smooth and almost translucent shell. The eggs are usually white, but they can be darker if the female has eaten blood recently.

The bed bug lays its eggs in batches of about twenty-five to thirty at a time. She’ll lay about five batches before she dies, so if you’re seeing lots of eggs on your mattress or furniture, there could be hundreds more still hidden from view!

Bed bug eggs are oval-shaped and have a yellowish tint to them. They are also translucent, so you can see the embryo inside.

Bed bugs lay their eggs in crevices and cracks in the home, so it may not be obvious where they’re coming from. If you suspect that you have bed bugs, check in places like behind baseboards or inside of furniture or cabinets.
