Both flying ants and termites are social insects. Like other social insects, in can be a challenge to tell the difference between them just by looking at them. Their social behavior is what makes these little critters so different, and as such, we feel it’s important to highlight that behavior when we’re trying to distinguish between the two insects. Termites are one of the most destructive and expensive pests to deal with. Unlike flying ants, termites are large enough to be noticed in almost all cases. If you ever see a white residue at the base of trees or wood structures, this is dead termites. Termites prefer rotting wood to live on. In the process of digesting the wood, they release a white sticky substance that flows like water when pressured by an object placed upon it (fingers for example).
Picture Of Flying Ants Vs Termites
Flying ants, also known as winged ants, are a type of ant that can fly. They are not the same as termites, which are a kind of social insect that can be found throughout the world. Unlike flying ants, termites do not have wings and resemble tiny moving worms. The two insects are often confused with each other because they share some physical characteristics, but they are actually different species.
Flying ants are typically about 1/8″ long and have four wings similar to those of bees or butterflies. Their bodies are usually brownish-black in color but can sometimes be yellowish-brown or even red when they have been injured. These insects have a rounded head with large compound eyes and small antennae located on top of their heads.
Termites look similar to flying ants because they both have wings—termites just don’t use them for flight purposes! Termites’ bodies are flat and oval-shaped with narrow waists between their abdomen and thorax sections (where their legs attach). Their heads have large jaws used for chewing woody materials such as trees and plants; this allows them to eat wood without having teeth like humans do!
Flying ants are winged insects that live in the nests of other ants, termites, and wasps. They can be easily identified by their large, black eyes and two pairs of membranous wings.
They are not as harmful to your home as termites are because they do not eat wood. However, flying ants do cause damage to your property by building mud tubes (or tubes) on your walls and ceilings. These tubes can be very difficult to remove from your home and require professional help from a pest control company.
