A team of Japanese insect experts in Tokyo has recently discovered several new species of ants, with some of them being unusually “ghost-like”. These ants are part of the species Camponotus griswoldi and were found in the rainforests of South America. “The name C. griswoldi refers to Clark Griswold, a fictional character played by Chevy Chase in the movies National Lampoon’s Vacation (1983) and European Vacation (1985),” wrote Felipe Notario in an article published at Phys.org . Ant infestations are often the result of poor housekeeping, a lack of proper food storage, and especially a failure to regularly discard food remnants. At first, ants may not be noticeable, but after significant numbers have accumulated, ant colonies may become very large and have a definite effect on human activity in the building.
