Backyard Mosquitoes Repellent
Clean up any standing water.
The most effective way to reduce mosquitoes, however, is through the elimination of standing water. Mosquitoes will lay eggs in anything that holds still for more than a few hours. This means even if you don’t have a pond or pool in your backyard, any puddles or buckets left out can be breeding grounds for mosquitoes. If you catch one early enough on the way home from work and drain it off before it fills back up with rainwater during the night, then it won’t cause much damage at all!
Cover up.
If you plan to spend time outdoors, wearing long sleeve shirts, long pants and tucking your pants into socks is an effective way to prevent mosquito bites. If you’re inside during the day and mosquitoes are out in force, consider wearing a hat or using an umbrella.
Mulch and moisture control can also help reduce mosquito breeding grounds around your backyard.
Keep bugs out with screens.
Here’s a simple way to keep insects out: screens.
Mesh screens are cheap and easy to install, so you won’t have to spend a lot of money on them. They’re also a great way to keep mosquitoes, flies and other insects out while letting the breeze flow through your home. This is especially helpful during the summer months when it can get pretty hot inside; if you have mesh screens installed in all your windows, they’ll help keep cool air circulating throughout the house while keeping bugs at bay. Screens are also excellent for keeping pets and children safe from dangerous insects like bees or spiders—they’ll let fresh air into your home without exposing those who live there to harm!
Use a homemade mosquito repellent.
- Make a homemade mosquito repellent.
Mix equal parts of water and vinegar in a spray bottle, then add 10 to 20 drops of essential oils like citronella or lavender (or both). Spray it on your skin before heading outside, or spray the air around you when you’re sitting outside. You can also try adding garlic oil to the solution for extra protection from mosquitoes.
- Use an industrial-strength bug spray designed specifically for children if you’re worried about their exposure to DEET—it’s fine if they use it sparingly on their skin while they’re playing outside!
I’m going to have to check to see if the mosquito repellent is here or not.
- Use a mosquito repellent. These include DEET, picaridin and IR3535.
- Use a mosquito trap to kill them in your yard. Mosquito traps use CO2 lures to attract mosquitoes in order to catch them. You can also try using a bug zapper, but these don’t work on all species of mosquitoes so they should be used sparingly in the backyard or patio area where there is no risk of accidentally killing other insects like crickets or moths.
- Use mosquito nets over windows and doorways by hanging them from hooks at eye level in order to keep out smaller insects like moths that get into homes through small cracks and holes around windowsills or between screens on doors as well as larger flying insects such as wasps that come near entryways during summer months trying to find prey for their young inside homes (which end up being eaten by family pets).
