I get it. It’s gross. Those of us with lighter complexions do not want to hear about bed bug bites and rashes on black people. First, we’re often vaccinated for bed bugs, so that doesn’t happen as much anymore. But second, no one wants to picture their grandmother with bed bug marks. Trust me. Everybody hates bed bugs. They’re annoying, and painful, but most importantly they’re expensive. When they bite you get welts or red spots that look like flea bites on dogs.  I have always wondered why they mostly attack me and not my African American friends who are in a relationship with me.Bed bugs have reemerged in the news lately, and if you’re a reader of news stories relating to health (like me), you’ve probably seen one or two articles on bed bug bites. That thought gave me pause — what do bed bug bites look like? To answer this question, I did a little bit of investigating — which is what led to me writing this article.

In addition to a rash, it is possible for people of any skin color to get an infection from the bites themselves. If you notice that your bite is red or swollen, you could have an infection that needs medical attention immediately.
