I’m going to provide some insight into these court cases and trust me the stories are so gross its not even funny.

Bed Bug Court Cases

What is a bed bug?

Bed bugs are small insects that feed on the blood of humans. They are nocturnal, so they will be most active at night. They can hide in all kinds of places, including mattresses and furniture, cracks and crevices in walls or floors, behind baseboards, electrical outlets, picture frames and more.

Bed bugs have become a growing problem for many people throughout the United States. Bed bugs are not just found in beds; they can also be found in couches and chairs as well as other places where people sit down to rest at night such as recliners or rocking chairs.

Contamination

Bed bugs can be spread from one place to another. For example, if you are staying at a hotel or traveling and your luggage touches other people’s luggage (for example, in the baggage claim area of an airport), bed bugs can be transferred from one piece of luggage to another. Bed bugs can also be transferred by sharing clothing with someone who has bed bugs. If you borrow a shirt from someone and put it on, then you might have bed bugs crawling all over your body for hours before finding these tiny critters on your skin and brushing them off yourself!

There are many ways that bed bug infestations can occur:

The Court Case – Example 1

The first case to consider was People v. Breen, a criminal court case in which the defendant was charged with harboring bed bugs. The judge in this case ruled that although there is no specific law prohibiting the presence of bed bugs in one’s home, there are laws against harboring other pests such as cockroaches and rodents. As such, if you have an infestation of any kind, you can be held responsible for it even if it’s not your fault.

The second case we’ll examine comes from New York City’s Supreme Court: People v. Traylor et al., which was also a criminal court decision that involved multiple defendants who were convicted based on their involvement with an apartment complex where many tenants had been infected by bed bug bites at various times during 2006-2007 (the period in question). While these cases involved criminal prosecution rather than civil suits against landlords or others who might be responsible for causing or enabling bed bug infestations (e.g., landlords), they nonetheless illustrate how harmful these pests can be when left unchecked for long periods of time without proper treatment methods used consistently over time

The Court Case – Example 2

The court case example below is a little more complicated, and it’s not for everyone. If you don’t have time to do your research and make sure you have the right evidence, this isn’t the best choice for you.

This example is from a real court case where someone was suing over their bed bug infestation problems. You can read about that here:

Renters and Landlords

If you are renting an apartment with bed bugs and the landlord is aware of the problem, he or she may be responsible for exterminating them. If you have a lease, check it to see if there is any mention of pest control and what responsibilities are placed on each party.

If your landlord refuses to take responsibility for treating the problem, contact your local health department or tenant’s rights organization. They can help mediate between tenants and landlords when disputes arise over infestations.

Criminal Cases

Criminal cases involving bed bugs are rare, but they do happen. One example is that of a man who was convicted of multiple counts of criminal mischief, trespass, and violating a protective order against him. His crime involved having sex with a woman and then biting her several times during intercourse. The judge sentenced the man to three years in prison, followed by five years on probation and no contact with the victim unless at her consent or when required by law (i.e., court appearances).

The jail time example above may seem harsh compared to some other offenses where people have received minimal punishment for similar acts (see this article on drunk driving penalties). However, while we don’t know whether the woman had any serious injuries from being bitten multiple times during their sexual encounter or if she ended up contracting any diseases due to his actions, it’s not hard to see why he got punished so severely: we all know how hard it can be to get rid of bed bugs once they’ve gotten into your home—and if you’re unlucky enough for them to bite someone else in addition? Well then there’s even more reason for concern! Don’t let them spread; call an exterminator immediately!

You can keep your family safe from bed bugs without going to court

Avoiding bed bugs is the first step in keeping your family safe from them. Bed bugs don’t live on people, so the best way to prevent them from getting into your home is to look for signs of an infestation before they are able to get inside. If you suspect that there might be bedbugs in or around your house, contact a pest control professional right away.

The second step is making sure that all areas of the home are sealed and treated if an infestation occurs. Use insecticides with pyrethroid compounds (pyrethroids) or diatomaceous earth powder as well as heat treatment methods like steam cleaning carpets and vacuuming hard surfaces every day until all signs of bed bug infestations have been eliminated.

Call a lawyer if: You were bitten by a dog; You have questions about making a claim against someone else for their negligence; You have suffered damages due to someone else’s carelessness; You need advice about how much compensation may be available under law
