I had no clue what this egg cluster was when I first came across it, but I have quite a bit of experience with bed bugs. The eggs from adult bed bugs are tiny; less than 1mm long. They are laid at the rate of 5 per day after feeding and mating, and typically 24-28 days pass from the time that the female lays her eggs and they hatch into nymphs. Bed bug nymphs will molt 5 times in 6 weeks! Bed bugs have an average life span of 12 months. They can remain dormant for 250 days, which explains how they’re able to survive for so long in your house even if you’ve got a clean place. Having said that, cleaning up the mess is something you want to get done quickly. You see, bed bug infestation poses health risks and brings in reputation risk to your business. Bed bug eggs form into clusters of 20-50 eggs in the early stages of their development and take about three weeks to hatch. Make sure you don’t neglect the identified areas as soon as possible, or else you’ll have a bigger problem on your hand.

It’s possible that you’ve seen an egg cluster and not even realized it. The photograph below shows an example of what a bed bug egg cluster looks like to the human eye, but it doesn’t actually show any eggs; instead, it shows their protective coating (which gives them their distinctive color).
When a female bed bug lays her eggs, she does so in groups called “egg clusters.” These clusters are typically glued down by some kind of substance that resembles paper glue. They’re usually found on walls or mattresses, but they can also be found on other items in your home—in closets and drawers where clothing is stored; inside books or magazines; around electrical sockets where power cables enter wall plates; near baseboards where wires enter wall plates (these areas may have been gnawed through); behind electric switches or light fixtures; under loose wallpaper corners or baseboards at places where wires pass through walls; behind picture frames mounted on walls (in these cases look for clusters about 1/8th inch long).
Bed bugs lay eggs in batches, usually about 16 eggs to a batch, but depending on the species can lay from 1 to 7 batches of eggs in their lifetime.

The eggs are extremely tiny and shiny white in color. They’re so small that you would need a magnifying glass to see them easily, but once you do look at one, it’s easy to spot because of its smooth, oval shape and shiny surface. The eggs are almost translucent with a sticky feel to them. You can sometimes find clusters of egg sacs stuck together on the underside of furniture or on bedding where they’ve been laid by adult bed bugs that have already hatched out their young ones (nymphs).

The bed bug egg cluster is glued down by a substance that resembles paper glue which keeps them together as a cluster. This is a defense mechanism against predators and pesticides, but it also serves to keep the eggs together. The glue is actually produced by the female bed bug, and it’s made of proteins and sugars, as well as other compounds that give it its unique consistency.
Some experts believe that the glue may also protect the eggs from pesticides.
Do you know what else is sticky? Super glue. Some experts believe that the glue may also protect the eggs from pesticides. That’s because most bed bug sprays and powders don’t kill eggs, they only kill nymphs (the young bugs). So if you spray your mattress with something like diatomaceous earth and leave it on too long, you could be killing any baby bed bugs that come out of those clusters before they can even reach adulthood. But if those clusters are glued together well enough to withstand a pesticide attack, then there’s no way for them to escape.
When the egg clusters are separated from one another, it does not appear as if there is any glue connecting the individual eggs within the cluster.

If you’ve identified the cluster as an egg cluster and not glue, this is good news! It means that there is a strong chance that they are indeed bed bug eggs and not just some other substance. However, it’s still important to do some more testing before you can definitively say that they are bed bug eggs. We’ll get into how to do this in the next section of our guide.
Bed bug egg clusters are typically glued together using an adhesive that resembles paper glue.
Bed bug egg clusters are typically glued together using an adhesive that resembles paper glue. The glue is produced by the mother bed bug as a liquid, which hardens as it dries and becomes resistant to water. This allows the eggs to remain intact even if they are exposed to moisture or washed in soapy water. Bed bug egg clusters can be difficult to remove from surfaces such as walls, furniture and clothing because of this strong adhesive bond between them.
