I am a big fan of essential oils and I have always hated how chemically Bed Bug sprays smell. So I created my own with lavender and peppermint essential oils. Bed Bug Essential Oil Spray Recipe

Ingredients

• Add the essential oil of your choice to a spray bottle.
• Fill the remainder of the spray bottle with water.
• Shake well before use!

Instructions

• Add the essential oils to a spray bottle.
• Fill the rest of the bottle with water, replace the spray nozzle, and shake well before each use.
• Spray directly onto areas where bed bugs have been sighted or suspected (usually along mattress seams).
• Repeat once a week until infestation is under control—or at least every three days if you’re dealing with an extensive infestation that is causing severe distress (think: itching from bug bites).

Notes

If you’d like an additional deterrent, you can use peppermint essential oil. Just a few drops of peppermint on a cotton ball and place it near the bed frame will help keep the bugs away.

This spray has been effective in our home and we’ve used it several times since discovering bed bugs. It’s also been useful in helping us sleep through the night while we’re waiting for our landlord to treat our apartment as well as when we go away on vacation and want to make sure no nasty critters come along with us!
