Can ants feel pain?

Their antennae are covered with sensors that detect movement and vibration; these are located on the outside of the body so that the insect can respond quickly to any threat. The signal then travels along nerve fibers from one nerve cell to another until it reaches a neuron at which point it is processed by a certain part of the brain responsible for pain perception (the thalamus).
