DIY Fungicide For Indoor Plants

When you have indoor plants, the battle against fungus can be an ongoing struggle. Fungus is common in indoor settings because of the high humidity and lack of natural light. The good news is that you can use a homemade fungicide to help your plants fight back against this problem.

What You Should Know Before Using DIY Fungicide

Fungus and mold can be a big problem for plants. Indoor growers usually find themselves treating fungus more often than outdoor growers. In fact, some growers find that it’s most difficult to keep their houseplants fungus-free. Luckily, there are preventative measures you can take to protect your plants from contaminated soil, as well as effective remedies you can use once the fungus starts to grow.

A homemade fungicide can be used on practically any type of plant, but you should know that some varieties don’t respond well to particular treatments or elements found in a particular recipe. Knowing what’s in your fungicide spray will allow you to avoid burning or otherwise harming your plants.

Once you know what’s in your fungicide spray, you can be sure that it won’t damage or harm your plants. In order to make the right decision, first consider what type of plant you have: is it an indoor houseplant or an outdoor garden plant? This will determine the kind of chemical fungicide to use.

Before you begin, it is important to note that some plants are more sensitive to chemicals than others. For example, a particular plant might not respond well to borax or potassium bicarbonate (both of which are common ingredients in homemade fungicides). Additionally, some plants may be more sensitive to certain ingredients found in a particular recipe than others. An instance is, a plant that is particularly susceptible to fungus growth may not tolerate the addition of oil-based products as part of its treatment regimen.

Finally, there are several other factors that can affect your ability to treat indoor plants using homemade fungicides: light conditions; temperature; soil type; and humidity level all play an important role when trying out different concoctions on your houseplants.

How Fungicides Work

Fungicide is a preventative measure to help stop fungus before it starts. Since it is an organic product, it does not have any harmful side effects for your plants or potted soil. As a matter of fact, you can use this fungicide on your plants year-round without having to worry about the growth of any new fungi in the future.

The way that these fungicides work is simple: they release chemicals into the soil that keep away harmful fungi from growing on your plants and in their pots. This means that if you have had issues with plant rot before, using a fungicide will help prevent them from happening again.

DIY Fungicide Recipe

I am super excited to announce today the release of my new DIY fungicide for indoor plants. You guys know me, I love my houseplants and I would like to show you how I make this miraculous solution that stops all kinds of fungal diseases (it works on bacteria too). You can use it on any indoor plants, including ficus and palms, without worrying about botanical compatibility or side effects.

Today, I want to share with you the ingredients, how to mix them and describe how it works against certain types of pathogens and moulds. Do you have green scaly patches on the leaves of your indoor plant and you want to get rid of them? This can be a fungal disease that spreads rapidly and may cause your plant to die. The fungus uses its spores to spread itself to nearby plants and so you need an efficient fungicide that doesn’t harm your plants.

If you have an indoor plant that has been battling with a fungus, use this homemade recipe and say goodbye to the problem.

You will need:

  • 1/4 cup of baking soda
  • 1/8 cup of apple cider vinegar (ACV)
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 teaspoon of liquid soap (any brand will do)
  • spray bottle or mister (optional, but recommended)

Directions:

Fill a spray bottle with the above mixture, and that’s it. Spray this on your plants every two weeks, twice per week, or so to prevent fungus from forming. Spray onto affected leaves until they are wet, but not dripping or drenched in liquid. Do not apply any more than twice per week, or over-saturation may occur.

Precautions When Using DIY Fungicide For Indoor Plants

When you have a fungus problem in your house, it can be tempting to do your own DIY fungicide. But before you start mixing your own chemicals in a spray bottle, make sure you’re aware of how to make sure the fungicide is effective and not dangerous to you or your plants.

First off, make sure you’re using the right recipe. Some fungicides are highly toxic (and even deadly) to humans and animals, so don’t just go grabbing something from the store shelf without looking into its safety first.

Second, make sure that what you’re spraying is actually killing the fungus. Some sprays are just meant to repel or slow down fungal growth, but not kill it outright. If this is the case for yours, then it may take longer for your plants to recover from their infection.

Also keep in mind that fungicide isn’t going to fix everything: if there’s been too much damage already done by the time you notice an infection on your plant’s leaves (or even roots), then there might not be much that can be done except waiting for them to grow out of it naturally or replacing them altogether with new ones.
