I started panicking and started searching the internet for a solution to this problem, as I didn’t want to pay $20 for a pill which I might never use again (since one pill would protect her for months), and most importantly, I didn’t want to use toxic chemicals which could harm my cat. You can also find commercial sprays or formulas at the store – they range from expensive to inexpensive.

Home Remedies To Get Rid Of Fleas On Cats

Introduction

Cats can get fleas just like dogs, and it’s important to be aware of that. This is because fleas on cats can cause serious problems for your cat’s health, but also because it’s a bit harder to detect fleas on cats than it is on dogs, so you need to be aware of the warning signs if your cat has been scratching and itching. But once you do discover fleas in your feline friend, don’t go out and spend money on expensive medications right away. There are some home remedies you can use first and they may help!

Listerine

Listerine is an antiseptic, and it’s also a natural flea repellent. You can use Listerine to get rid of fleas on your cat or in your home.

To use this home remedy, pour a few drops of the mouthwash into the water bowl with warm water. Alternatively, try adding some to their food or apply it directly to their fur (in this case, you may want to test it on a small patch first).

Be warned that cats do not like the taste of Listerine – but if you give them enough time for it to dry and dissipate before offering any other liquids for ingestion, there shouldn’t be any issues with this method!

Lemon Water

Lemon water is a great way to treat fleas on cats, dogs and humans. You can also use it to get rid of fleas on horses.

To make lemon water, you need:

  • A lemon
  • A cup of water

Vinegar

Vinegar is another natural flea repellent that can be used on your cat. To use it, put a little vinegar in a spray bottle and then spray the area where you’ve seen fleas. Vinegar is also effective as a spot treatment for carpeting, as well as furniture and bedding.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is one of the most popular flea remedies for cats. While it’s not as effective as other products, such as Frontline or Advantage, it does work to kill adult fleas and larvae.

Here are some tips on how you can use baking soda to get rid of fleas on your cat:

  • If your cat has a moderate number of fleas (between 10-20), sprinkle ½ cup of baking soda over his coat while he is standing up. Massage it into his fur with your hands until it’s completely absorbed into the skin. Repeat every week until all signs disappear.
  • For severe infestations (over 20), use 1 cup per treatment instead of just ½ cup! Follow this same routine every week until all signs disappear.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is a natural flea repellent and can be used to treat fleas on your cat or dog. It’s important to note that apple cider vinegar will not kill the adult fleas, but it will prevent eggs from hatching and keep your pet free of new infestations of other parasites.

To use Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV):* After bathing or shampooing your pet with any kind of soap, apply ACV to their fur.* Let it sit for 10 minutes before rinsing off.* Do this every few days until all visible signs of the parasite are gone.* If you have a large dog, dilute 1 part ACV with 5 parts water for easier application.* Apple cider vinegar can also be applied directly onto skin where there may be irritation caused by biting insects such as mosquitoes or black flies when hiking in remote areas during summer seasons where these pests thrive most often due to weather conditions such as humidity levels being very high which makes conditions ideal for breeding purposes for these insects too far away from civilization where pesticides could otherwise kill them easily without causing harm elsewhere like in people’s homes nearby these outdoor areas where they tend their crops growing food sources such as tomatoes

Eucalyptus Oil

First, you can use eucalyptus oil to repel fleas. Eucalyptus oil is a good natural flea repellent. It also has other benefits as well, such as being an effective bug repellent, antiviral and antibacterial agent. It’s also helpful in preventing the spread of viruses and germs in your home or workplace.

You can use this essential oil in either of the following ways:

  • Add one teaspoon of the essential oil to 250 ml water and mix well until dissolved completely (make sure to use food grade). Then soak cotton balls with this solution and place them near areas where there are lots of fleas – for example, underneath furniture where pets lie down regularly. This will help keep the living space safe from these annoying creatures while they are sleeping at night time too!

Lemongrass Oil

  • Lemongrass oil is a natural flea repellent and can be used as a flea spray, collar, shampoo or any other topical application. It’s best to use 100% pure lemongrass oil instead of the diluted versions that are sold in stores. This way you can be sure that there aren’t any harmful chemicals included in the product.
  • Mix 1 tablespoon of dried lemon balm with 1 tablespoon of dried lavender flowers and place them inside a muslin bag (or any cloth bag). Tie it up securely so that no herbs fall out while boiling the water. Leave this mixture overnight in water and boil it in morning on low heat for 20 minutes before straining it into another bowl. Cool down both bowls before applying them onto your cat’s fur using cotton balls or rags soaked in warm water so as not to burn his skin or eyes! You can also use this same mixture to make an aromatic flea spray by adding 2 drops each of basil oil and thyme essential oils into ½ cup distilled water (or vegetable glycerin if you want something lighter). Just remember not to put these oils directly onto your pet’s skin since they could cause irritation due to its strong properties.”

Orange Oil

Orange oil is a natural flea repellent that can be used to get rid of fleas on cats. Orange oil is safe for use on both humans and animals, so it’s an effective option if you’re looking to add this remedy to your arsenal. Orange oil is also fairly easy to find at most health food stores or online.

You can use orange oil in three ways:

  • dilute the essential oil with water and spray it directly onto the cat’s fur;
  • mix one or two drops of orange essential oil into the cat’s shampoo before washing; or
  • add a few drops of orange essential oil into a spray bottle filled with water, then shake well before using on the pet’s fur

Lemon Spray

Lemon spray is a natural remedy that’s safe to use on both your cat and bedding. It can also be used as a flea repellent, making it a win-win all around.

To make lemon spray:

  • Fill a spray bottle with water (use purified filtered water if you have access to it).
  • Slice two lemons in half and add them to the water.
  • Let sit overnight at room temperature and then strain out the lemon pieces before using the liquid as a spray on your cat or bedding.

Cats get fleas too and you don’t have to spend a fortune on expensive medications to get rid of them.

  • It is important to note that cats can get fleas from other animals or even from the environment. Fleas are bloodsuckers, and they will bite your cat repeatedly if it does not scratch them off within a few minutes. You need to be careful when handling your cat as well, because fleas may leap onto you or your clothing and cause irritation on your skin.
  • Flea bites cause skin irritation in both humans and cats alike. The most common symptom of this is itching, which might lead to redness and swelling in some cases (especially if the flea bite was left untreated). In rarer cases, people with severe allergies can develop hives after being bitten by a flea or ingesting their eggs through food containing contaminated ingredients; for example:
  • A cat infected with tapeworm larvae that came from eating an infected host like mice would often show signs of tapeworm infection including diarrhea (often bloody) as well as weight loss due to intestinal blockage caused by adult worms migrating outwards from organs such as lungs until they reach fleshy areas where they produce new eggs which infect intermediate hosts like birds/dogs etc when passed along through feces consumed by these animals (whereas dogs tend not absorb them).

Conclusion

We hope these home remedies can provide relief for your cat and prevent flea infestations from coming back. It’s important to keep in mind that fleas are a common problem, so don’t feel ashamed if your cat develops them. Instead, just focus on how you can use natural, effective treatments to get rid of them!
