Lasius ants are found primarily in North African, Australian and Asian regions. Lasius Ants are also commonly known by the name of pavement ant, because they make their presence known by their trail activity in paved areas such as roads and sidewalks. They are a common household pest because they tend to wander around residential and commercial buildings looking for food. Giant ants are a lot bigger than common ants. Another thing about giant ants is that they need a bunch of food and water to be able to survive. Lasius Ants live in a super colony, the live in huge mounds, they have queens and kings. These ants made hives that they built underground, and they have system that everyone knows where to go in the nest. One of the ant’s job is to clean, you can get rid of the dirt by just having another ant going after it with its mouth open. Another ant will also eat other things like kills other animals or insects, and eating vegetation by using their digestive system. Their territories include decomposing organic materials. They don’t care about time so they’ll be working on things 24/7.

Lasius ants are a solitary and primitive tribe of ants which uses subterranean environs as abodes. Lasius is considered to be a primitive ant, with approximately one fifth of the 6,000 species of ants coming under this category. They are known by other names such as: pavement ant, yellow meadow ant and that’s just to name a few.

Lasius ants, a type of pavement ant, have individual colorations that range from dark brown to black. The head and the thorax are shiny, and the tip of the abdomen is rounded. They are approximately 1/16 to 1/8 inch in length and may live up to 4 years in their mature form. When the colony is disturbed or when the queen leaves their nest they emit a pungent odor generally described as musky or almond-like.
