Introduction

If you like to keep a clean house, there’s one issue for which you must always be on the lookout: fleas. While these pests can easily sneak into your home without being noticed, they can also wreak havoc on both your family and your pets. This is why it’s important to do everything possible to prevent them from infesting your home. However, if they do invade, there are several natural options that will help you get rid of them quickly and effectively.

Baking soda and salt.

Baking soda and salt:

Mix these two ingredients together in a small bowl. Sprinkle the mixture around your house or apartment, making sure to get into corners and crevices where fleas like to hide. You can also put the mixture in a sock and tie it closed so that you can shake it out over the infested area. Leave this baking soda/salt mix out for several days, then vacuum up all of the residue.

Lemon spray.

Lemon spray is a great way to keep fleas away. All you need is lemon juice, water, and a spray bottle.

To make lemon spray:

  • Cut the lemons in half and squeeze the juice out of them into a bowl or measuring cup until you have 1/4 cup to 1/3 cup of lemon juice.
  • Add 1 teaspoon of dish soap or liquid castile soap (like Dr. Bronner’s) to your 4 cups of water, then add this mixture to your 1/4-1/3 cup of lemon juice. Stir well and pour into your spray bottle; shake before each use.
  • Spray any areas where pets live (their bedding, crates, etc.), anywhere in the house that they roam freely like rooms where they sleep at night or play during daytime naps (including carpets), furniture such as couches and chairs—basically anywhere within arms reach where fleas could potentially hang out! You can also apply it directly on your pet’s fur with an old towel so they don’t lick their fur afterwards; this helps ward off ticks too!

Citrus spray.

A quick and simple way to eliminate fleas is by using citrus spray. The aroma of citrus helps to repel fleas from your home, so this is a great option if you want to save money on expensive commercial products. To make the spray, simply fill a spray bottle with hot water. Add lemon or orange peels (about 4-6) and vinegar (about 2 tbs). Add in some essential oils such as lavender or eucalyptus oil for extra effect if desired!

The mixture will need to brew overnight before use but once it’s ready, simply spray on all surfaces including furniture and rugs! Leave the area for several hours then vacuum up any dead fleas that have been eliminated thanks to this natural remedy!

Black pepper.

  • Add a sprinkle of black pepper to your pet’s bedding and around their bed.
  • Sprinkle it on your carpet, where fleas like to hide and lay eggs, as well as in areas where your pets sleep or play (like under couches).
  • Use black pepper in a bath for dogs and cats with fleas or ticks: Add 4 tbsp of black pepper to 1 gallon warm water and let it steep for 15 minutes before bathing your pet with the solution.

Lavender oil.

Lavender oil is a natural flea repellent and completely safe for humans and pets. It works by neutralizing the chemicals that attract fleas to your pet, which helps disrupt the life cycle of these pests.

One of the best ways to use lavender oil is in a diffuser. It’s easy to set up, requires no mess or maintenance, and has a pleasant aroma that will make you relax as well as repel bugs from your home. You can also use it in a spray bottle or bath (just make sure not to get any water on your pet).

Eucalyptus oil.

Eucalyptus oil can be used as a spray or in a diffuser. It has antiseptic qualities and is often used as an insect repellent. It’s also beneficial for people with respiratory conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, and allergies.

You can safely use eucalyptus oil on pets (just don’t use it on cats), but not on kittens under 6 months of age. Be sure to dilute the eucalyptus oil before applying it to your pet; follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer when mixing it into water or another liquid form of your choice (or consult with a veterinarian).

Eucalyptus oil should not be used internally by humans; apply only externally—and never ingest it! If you have sensitive skin or are prone to allergic reactions or asthma attacks, avoid using eucalyptus essential oils altogether—and consult your doctor before using any essential oils if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding!

Dish soap and water.

Diluted dish soap and water.

Mix one part dish soap to four parts water in a spray bottle. Spray the area with this mixture, let it sit for a few minutes and wipe clean with a damp cloth. Repeat as needed or use vinegar or alcohol if you don’t have any dish soap on hand!

Hairspray.

Hairspray. The best way to get rid of fleas is by getting them stuck in the carpet. Spraying hairspray on your carpet will do just that! Spray some onto the carpet and let it sit for a few minutes, then vacuum up any excess hairspray. Repeat if necessary!

Do your best to keep the moisture out of your home, as this is where most fleas will live and breed. Vacuum regularly, including furniture and rugs and carpets, in order to remove crumbs and anything else that might attract bugs into your house.

  • Use natural remedies such as diatomaceous earth for flea control inside the house. Diatomaceous earth is a natural product made from fossilized algae that has sharp edges that can cut through an insect’s outer shell. It’s safe for you, but deadly for any insects that come in contact with it (including fleas).
  • Take steps outside your home too! Fleas need food sources just like humans do so make sure you keep up with all of yours: clean up after yourself when you’re done eating outside or gardening – don’t leave crumbs or dropped food around!

Conclusion

As you can see, there are many different ways to get rid of fleas in your home. Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages, so it is important that you consider which one will work best for you before deciding on one particular type of treatment. Hopefully this article has given you some ideas about what might be right for your situation!
