What are fleas? The flea is an insect with a bristly body. It’s likely that you are familiar with the common house cat flea, but did you know that there are more than 2000 species of fleas worldwide? In the picture below you can see a red dog tick on the right and what appears to be a smaller brown version of it on the left. Hosts, such as dogs and cats, are readily available year-round in most areas. Fleas can also jump into homes or other indoor locations from outdoor pets, wildlife, or directly from outdoors.
