Mosquitoes are one of the most annoying insects you can encounter. From the buzzing sound of its wings to the itch that follows a bite, mosquitoes are nothing but trouble. But these small creatures can be easily defeated with the right mosquito repellent. So here’s what I’ve got for you. Mosquito repellent is used to ward off mosquitoes from people. If you recently bought a new home and are suddenly plagued with mosquitoes, you might want to look into what makes this small flying insect so attracted to you. There are about 3300 species of mosquitoes worldwide and it is recommended that you use repellent. Mosquitoes are the primary carrier of diseases like malaria and yellow fever. For travelers, campers, hikers and for people living in communities where mosquitoes are a health hazard and can cause diseases, choosing the right mosquito repellent is necessary. Mosquito repellents need to be chosen based on the type of mosquito and activity one will engage in. There are sprays, lotions, aerosol creams and patches that have active ingredients such as DEET, picaridin, citronella and lemon eucalyptus. Also there are types of insect repellents which are marketed under different names by different companies, but they all contain similar key ingredients like permethrin or DEET.

Take 1/2 cup of distilled water or water that you have boiled.

The next step is to take 1/2 cup of distilled water or water that you’ve boiled. Add 2 tablespoons of vegetable glycerin and 20 drops of essential oils (like lemon eucalyptus, citronella, tea tree oil). Shake well before each use and reapply as needed.

All of these essential oils are good for mosquito repellent because they contain strong scents that mosquitoes find offensive and unpleasant. Citronella has been used in products such as candles and sprays for years because of its effectiveness at keeping away mosquitoes—but it’s also known to be effective at keeping away insects like ants and fleas as well! Lavender is another great option; while some studies show that this plant can repel mosquitoes even better than citronella oil alone (which isn’t unusual), others suggest otherwise (more on this later).

Put in a spray bottle.

You can put the mixture in a reusable spray bottle. You can find empty spray bottles at Walmart or Amazon, or you can use a mason jar. When using the jar, be careful when spraying to avoid making too much of a mess! If you don’t have a reusable spray bottle or mason jar, then use cotton balls instead.

After applying this product, you can continue to enjoy your outdoor activities without worry of being bitten by mosquitoes. However, in order for it to work effectively, you must apply the repellent at least every 2 hours (and preferably more often) while outside.
