Bed bugs can live up to a year without feeding; however, they prefer to feed every five-10 days. They are not picky eaters and will go after whatever is available. Bed bugs will feed on the blood of any human or animal in their path. Bed bugs hide in cracks and crevices around your home making it possible for them to travel into your home on furniture and clothing from another location. Most people do not know they have bedbugs until they begin seeing signs of an infestation, such as bites on their skin at night or stains from the bed bug droppings (fecal matter).
In addition to these characteristics listed above, there are other ways that you can identify a possible infestation: If you notice small red bites or welts appearing on areas such as your arms, legs or torso; if you notice damage done by bed bugs including holes chewed through fabric or wood surfaces; or if there are smears of feces on sheets and other fabrics used in bedding material then this could be an indication that there may be an infestation occurring in your home

Bed bugs are small, flat, wingless insects that feed on the blood of animals or humans. The life cycle of a bed bug consists of four stages: egg, nymph, adult and egg again.
Bed bug eggs are oval-shaped and approximately 1 mm long. They’re often laid in batches of five to 10 eggs at a time on rough surfaces such as wooden furniture and drywall. These eggs can also be found in seams, crevices and mattresses as well as other areas where bed bugs hide out during the day (like inside power outlets).
After six days under ideal conditions (70 degrees Fahrenheit), an average temperature for human blood), nymphs emerge from their eggs looking like adults except they don’t have wings yet—they need about another week before they develop enough strength to fly away from their hiding place into new areas with food sources nearby (like your pillow). After about five weeks worth of feeding on human blood every night for about 20 minutes each time it’s time for this batch of immature adults/nymphs to lay new eggs so they’ll go through another complete lifecycle over again within two months!

The life cycle of a bed bug is divided into four stages: egg, nymph (or instar), adult and molting.
- Egg. The female lays one to five eggs each day, which she attaches to the surface of her nesting site using a glue secreted from her ovipositor. In about six days, baby bed bugs hatch from the eggs and begin feeding immediately.
- Nymph (instar). Bed bug nymphs do not molt until they reach maturity (about 10 days after hatching), so they appear as miniature versions of adult bed bugs with no wings or wing pads until then. While quite active during this stage, they are still unable to reproduce because they don’t have fully developed reproductive organs yet; however, they can still transmit diseases such as Chagas disease through their bites at this point in their lives if human blood is available for them to feed upon

Your bed bugs will go through 5 stages of development: eggs, nymphs, nymphs, nymphs and adults.
Eggs are small and white with a flat shape. They can be hard to see without magnification because they are about the size of a pin head and are tucked away in cracks or crevices around your home.
Nymphs are tiny (about the size of an apple seed) but visible to the naked eye when they first hatch out of their eggs. As they grow older they become darker in color until they reach adulthood when they begin to feed on humans as well as other warm blooded animals such as dogs or cats who share their living space with them!
Adults may vary in color from light brownish tan to dark reddish brown depending on how long it has been since they last fed on blood; this is why detecting infestations early is important so that appropriate treatment can begin before becoming overwhelmed with these pests!

The bed bug life cycle starts with an egg. The female bed bug lays eggs after feeding on blood, and each one hatches into a nymph. The nymphs go through five moults before becoming adults, which can live for up to 18 months. These stages are called instars. After the first moult, they are known as 1st instar nymphs; after the second moult they are 2nd instar nymphs; and so on until they reach adulthood at 5th instar stage.
